Walker Creek Boat Ramp

Toccoa River - Westminster, US

Description

This is the second access on the Tugaloo River Water Trail. It is at the very head of Lake Hartwell. With the lake at full pool it is still water downstream and a little current upstream. There are very few houses on this stretch of river/lake. Quite scenic.

You can paddle upstream to an island surrounded by a pretty shoals. To go upstream beyond that would need skill with a pole.

Downstream stays narrow like a river for quite a ways, eventually widening and including sandbar islands. If Lake Hartwell is 10 feet or more below full pool there are a few easy shoals between Walker Creek Boat Ramp and Prather Bridge Access.
