Description
Small spit of sand at the end of a straight, flat dirt road continuing past where Truitt’s Landing Road ends. Room enough to turn a truck or small camper around, but not a larger RV or trailer. We had two vehicles with room to maneuver; more than three would be difficult. This is an undeveloped site (aside from a decent dirt road, probably prone to flooding) in an area of marshland grasses.
On the day we came (October 2021), winds were forecast for about 15 mph but gusts exceeded 20. Absent any shelter or windbreaks on the beach, winds were enough that foldable kayaks were tricky to assemble. Easy launch from the beach into shallow water. Can paddle along the marsh grasses and to a small nearby island —- possibly more than one. Assateague Island is visible in the distance, across the bay. This trip was challenging due to the wind and tides pulling us away from shore; would like to explore this area again in calmer conditions.
