Park at Bridge 50 for free. Walk up to last lock. Put in there to avoid all the locks and head to Armitage. Portage 1 lock at Wood End(easy). Then portage under the railway bridge onto the Trent which is straightforward. Head down the Trent to Alrewas. Easy flow on the river. Back up the canal to bridge 50. Portage 3 locks to the bridge. Great circular route. Kingfishers, Herons and loads of wildlife.
