Description
The marina has a concrete ramp used by recreational boaters and some commercial fisherpeople. It is busy when crabbing season starts. Really no access to the beach other than via the ramp unless you like climbing big rocks. The harbor is fun to explore, and at high tide you can go up an inlet which you find by paddling around the south side of the harbor after putting in. Beware though, the banks close in quickly and you end up paddling backwards through twisting canals. Mosquitoes too. On the nice side, the fish will jump onto your boat at the right time of day. Summer Thursday evenings are sail boat races - fun to watch. Just stay out of their way: they are amateur boaters and kayaks are much more maneuverable than they are. $10 to launch and park (as of summer 2020). Water hose to rinse off boat and equipment afterwards. Portapotty. Sometimes the little store called "Off the Hook" is open - it caters to the boaters. Never been in it, so no comment. Downtown is just blocks away for a pleasant dinner or drink afterwards.Location & Directions
