MLK Riverside Park and Marina

Mckellar Lake

Description

The lake is a slough for the Mississippi River. There is probably some commercial traffic, though I only saw barges docked. There is an $8 launch fee in an honor box. Lots of trash as the lake acts like a strainer for the Mississippi River. Treasure Island in the middle offers lots of trees and brush to navigate. Cranes, ducks, woodpeckers and Turkey can be seen among a number of other birds. Fish are abundant, and fishing would probably be good but a sign warning that all fish were contaminated. Large bass and catfish surfaced next to the boat. There is a marina advertising food and drinks.
