McAlpine Creek access at Monroe Rd.

McAlpine Creek

Description

An astonishing amount of wildlife given the urban nature of the creek. Deer, mallards, herons, turtles, scores of song birds. Put in under the Monroe Rd. Bridge. Park on the southwestern side of the bridge in the parking lot. Take out under the Providence Rd. Bridge. There’s a handrail going up to the street, great for walking your boat up. HAZARD: steep water drop immediately after Sardis Rd. Bridge. Portage left. DO NOT RUN UNLESS FLOW DEPTH IS UNDER 2 FT. The creek runs deepest on the right bank so when I doubt, veer that way. Bring rope to pull your boat up the Rocky banks and bring bailing equipment.
