Description
The Richmond Marina has a large concrete boat ramp as well a kayak boat ramp built into the adjacent dock. There are two parking options: 1) You can pay the fee and drive to the boat ramp. This is a good option if you have heavy boats and don't want to walk far to the put in. 2) You can park in front of the Harbor Master's office and there are about 20 parking spots designated for public water access. From here, it is about a 150 yard walk to the boat ramp or dock. This is great if you have a lightweight boat or a cart.
The marina is sheltered slightly from the wind due to its large breakwater. You can also venture further out of the marina to see some old ships and also access Brooks Island, although landing is on the island is restricted. See the East Bay Regional Parks website for more details. If you go out this way, you will see lots of seals and have great view of the San Francisco skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge.
