Description
Plenty of places to launch here- for the EXPERIENCED paddler. Emersion clothing highly recommended. In the summer early in the morning hours wind typically dies down and is calm for open water crossings. As noon approaches wind comes up, and settles again in late afternoon. Catabatic winds from Kachemak Bay's many glaciers can change paddling conditions quickly so paddlers beware. Lots of power boat activity in summer. A sawtooth raggety waterline and hazy looking far shore can indicate high winds across the bay.
