- Lake Lawtonka Dam
Description
Located outside the city of Lawton, Oklahoma, this lake is a popular site for many recreational activities including camping, watersports, boating, and fishing. Kayaks do not need to be tagged unless powered by motor or sail.
It is an enjoyble paddling experience on this lake, with views of Mount Scott and the Wichita Wildlife Refuge. Winds can be strong in Oklahoma, so some days are rough for paddling. This is a very popular spot in the summer for boats, so padddlers can sometimes be overwhelmed by the traffic if not careful. The lake is owned by the city and requires a city fishing permit in addition to a state fishing license. City permits are sold onsite at he Schoolhouse Slough located at the marina. This lake is home to the state record smallmouth bass caught in 2012. It is a trophy bass lake, so all largemouth/smallmouth must be over 16" to keep. Daily limit of 1. Saugeye/Walleye are abundant in this lake and must be 14" to keep. Daily limit of 6, It is also great for crappie, catfish, and white bass/sand bass.
