Gilman Park

Exeter River - Exeter, US

Description

Removal of the dam in Exeter has lowered the water level, but still fine for paddling. Low current, and protected from the wind by trees on both banks. Access is easy, but it feels more remote than it is. Good birding and wildlife observation, including local kids on the rope swing. A nice walking trail runs along the river, also.

Removal of the dam has created cat 3/4 rapids and should not be ventured by non Experienced or prepared kayakers!!
