Description
It is medium walk on a quality sidewalk from the parking lot—the one in the portion of park that is nearer the overpass—to the dirt slope under the overpass. Pros and cons. This put in ensures you can paddle upstream once you put in. (This is a key contrast with the main park put in downstream, where, if your intent is paddling upstream, you would likely have to portage 100 feet or slippery rocky shallows.) The cost, for the benefit of better starting point for paddling, is having to make your way down the long dirt slope. “What about take out? Why not float down to the main park location?” This is highly dependent on depth. In the stretch between the bridge and the lower park section are many boulders. Strong advice is to wear a helmet if continuing that far, since hitting rocks is inevitable in shallower conditions and increases the chance of you being thrown into the water onto the rocks. Therefore, consider planning on taking out at the bridge slope; consider bringing a rope to aid pulling your craft back up.Location & Directions
