Cobbs Creek at Baltimore Ave (SEPTA34)

Cobbs creek

Description

I put in my NRS Outlaw 1 inflatable kayak across from the SEPTA rt 34 loop and paddled about 2.5 miles to Woodland Ave (SEPTA rt 11).
It was a few days after rain and I had to walk over shallow riffles about 25 percent of the time.
The deep pools around Mt Moriah cemetery made up for it though, and the route passed the USGS water measurement station from where many of us get our creek temps.
The arched bridges were beautiful, and there were plenty of deer, blue heron and ducks.
It is a sad reminder to see the sewage culverts from Philly's mixed street and waste water systems, but the creek seems to stay pretty clean anyway.
