Description
Bob's Fishing Hole is a private launch facility and bait and tackle shop on the east side of Battlefield Blvd. situated on the north bank of the Northwest River. There is a boat ramp, a large gravel parking area for boats and trailers, and a series of short, fixed, wooden docks near the ramp for staging boats that are getting in or out. If you are just parking a car without a trailer, the cost is $2.00.
There is a single port-o-let. There are a few other docks for fishing. The kayak launch is a small "beach launch" and the adjacent ground surface is all gravel-covered. I was there on a sunny Sunday afternoon in early November. There were a number of paddle boarders who had just come off the water. There was a slow but steady stream of fishing boats, ski boats, and jet skis using the ramp. Judging by the large parking area, I expect this place can get really busy in the summertime. I put in at the beach launch area but when I came back, I used one of the low docks near the ramp to get out. The river is wide, winding, and has a series of islands.
The paddle boarders coming off the water asked me if I had a tracker since it can be easy to get "lost" because the river has a number of branches that go behind islands as well as some fairly long branches that go off the main channel. I used my cell phone and had no problems, but was glad I had it. The branches that go around the islands all reconnect to the main channel.
