We have launched and paddled from this beach a number of times over the past 5 years. Last week (January 2024) we noticed new large signs prohibiting water access due to the extreme rip tides and multiple swimming deaths. Hillsborough County has closed ALL water access. Even dipping your toes in the water is prohibited. The beach is now monitored for compliance in an effort to prevent more drownings. This unfortunately includes canoe and kayak launching.
