This is the 2nd season with the Arbor 100 and I can't be happier about it. Bought it late summer on sale at Walmart after reading a jillion happy reviews about it. Spent hours on youtube/Pinterest looking at how to make it customized for my needs which was great fun. The reviews here are spot on. My goal was a stable fishing kayak that was easy to handle by myself.
I did raise the seat a bit and moved it forward a tad. Being a little gal, the paddle was bumping the sides in full sit down mode. The seat is great, buy the way. Made a removeable rod rack up on the deck behind the seat out of pvc pipe, as well as a low bait/lure rack on the front on glides that I can pull toward me when needed. It holds flat bait boxes and the bate for several kinds of fish found in our lakes. The little cubby up in front is just right for the fish finder battery and a bit of misc. I did find on Pinterest how to design a pair of stabilizers so the kayak is even more stable for fishing. Made them to flip up for serious travel, flip down for stability when fishing and can even extend them out for more stability. Because I want to stand, at times, when fishing, I made a floor out of close cell foam board and covered it with boat decking carpet - that firmed up the plastic floor and spread weight more evenly. To move it around easier, I made a 2 wheel roll around that breaks down easily and stores in the back compartment. All of this took a fair amount of thinking out and work, but now this neat 10' kayak fits me to a 'T'. Plus I have plenty of room for a cooler and gear for longer trips. It's a great 'starter' kayak that I will enjoy for years.
