After 3 years researching a variety of canoe styles and brands; and after seeking out references from other Nova Craft owners, we decided to purchase our Prospector 18 in Tuff Stuff from a Nova Craft retailer in Marysville, Pennsylvania - Blue Mountain Outfitters (BOM). All communications with BOM was fantastic. We drove from our home in South Carolina all the way to Pennsylvania to pick our canoe up. Then, we camped and canoed for a week on the George B. Stevenson Dam and its tributaries in Sinnemahoning State Park, Austin, Pennsylvania. THE PROSPECTOR 18 IS A DREAM COME TRUE! The contoured yoke makes portaging a joy as it perfectly distributes and balances the weight. Canoes as large as this are sometimes a bear to paddle; however, from the moment we put it in the water, we were amazed with how responsive it is, how easy it is to paddle and how it glides through the water. The Prospector 18 tracks straight and true, and the comfortable positioning of the seats perfectly allows for just the right angle of entry for your paddle into the water. We've had the canoe on flat water and rivers so far, including paddling up the mouth of a river following a high water event. The Prospector 18 handles beautifully. Our canoe is now back in South Carolina with us at her "forever" home. We're looking forward to upcoming trips on black water and tidal rivers here in the Southeast. Cannot say enough about this canoe. Shout out to Blue Mountain Canoe Outfitters (BOM) and to the wonderful folks at Nova Craft. Thank you.
