I had considered this kayak for my fishing adventures. I spend a day on the water fishing from it. So here goes.. For a hobie, this is a pretty light weight boat. I currently have the outback and the compass is much lighter, eaiser to launch, haul etc. The rudder on the compass is extremely responsive, turns on a dime and I actually like the placement of the control. It is very stable, great platform for standing, its easy to paddle when necessary. The cons.. The seat! The bar on the backside of bottom of seat is quite uncomfortable and unless you scoot forward or sit slouched, you are resting on that bar. ( my guy says he likes it because he does sit farther forward on the seat) Also this boat has no side handles, there are some molded hand holds in the boat between the seat but i imagine if you had very big hands its a tight squeeze. The other thing I struggled with was the distance from seat to pedals. I had to adjust them all teh way forward and really stretch to get a decent pedal. Mind you im short, but something to consider if you are vertically challenged such as myself. All in all I would say its an excellent boat especially for an angler looking for a cleaner, simpler deck/platform. I suggest testing first for those comfort/size issues though.
