Wanted to upgrade from the basic aluminum paddle that came with my starter kayaks. Did alot of looking around and reading reviews and finally settled on the Aqua Bound carbon shaft. I wanted lightweight and good quality without breaking the bank. I like that these paddles are available in a smaller diameter. That feature along with varied lengths and the light weight make for a much more comfortable day on the lake or river.

You can't beat these for a beginner or occasional use kayak. I paid $150 for mine (paddle included) at Menard's Black Friday sales. Initially bought two and now I own four. They are very stable and turn easily. Lots of space but, no waterproof storage area or added floatation. Personally, I prefer the space so, I can pack gear for overnight camping or take a small cooler on day trips. They aren't the fastest yaks so, you may fall behind in a group. Seats are the standard thin cushioning. I bought cheap, foam seat pads for added comfort. The only issue I've had is one of the pad eyes for the storage hatch bungee broke.
