I was just gifted a Baidarka Explorer built under license from Derek Hutchinson by Tieken Kayaks in NS Canada. It’s s/n 0004. I’m in the beginning stage of bringing it back to duty. I’ve removed all the decking and power washed it. It’ll require some rubbing compound but I’m sure it’s going to shine. It’ll probably need some keel tape on the bow and stern keel and definitely new hatch covers. The chimp pump works great. I’m 6’4” and not at all certain I’ll fit in to it. My one initial try was unsuccessful but the boat was sitting in snow and I had running shoes on. Hopefully barefoot will work. The Baidarka came with two Nordkapp HMs all three boats from the 80s and needing equal doses of love.
