I am an intermediate kayaker and for the price you can't go wrong with the Sun Dolphin. It is the 12' sit on top and I have used it in several small mountain lakes, a larger lake, and the Green River in Wyoming. I have pulled many fish in while on it. It is very stable but not the easiest kayak to get in and out of. I have used it on fairly good size waves and was not nervous about capsizing. Very maneuverable. I'm adding a bottom seat cushion to it this summer.
