1000-foot Paddle Under an Island
This short video shows Iain Miller paddling through a 300 meter sea cave tunnel in a spring low tide. The natural tunnel passes right through the middle of Umfin island which lies off the coast of Ireland in the Atlantic. In the centre of the tunnel is a 30m section which is in complete darkness and is guarded at either end by a constriction or narrowing in the cave walls, these narrowings are very tidal.
Umfin Island lives 3 km off western Donegal in the Republic of Ireland, it is home only to sea birds and seals. It lies just to the North of the much better known Gola Island - a climbing hot spot.
