OK, Looks like I am the…

OK, Looks like I am the first one review this boat :-) I am in this sport about a year now, I start with a site-on-top than quickly switch to a WS Pungo 120 (2018 version). Few weeks ago I start looking for a longer boat for open water, and finally pull the trigger for this Sprint 140DT due to the price. I first wanted to get the Delta 14, but can't swallow the price tag. Also with ABS kayaks, it needs to be more careful to use! I do lots of beach launch and beaches in long island are not so good in condition. For now I stay with poly boat. Purchase this kayak from REI few weeks ago in reg price $1049 + tax, but I do get 10% members dividend at the end of the year. So far I did 3 trips with this boat, it is sure a huge upgrade from my pungo 120. This kayak come standard with a plastic rudder and total weight is 55lb. 14ft long, 25" wide and 15" depth. Seat is very comfortable for long hours paddle, I feel comfortable covering 14 miles in long island sound in a choppy water. Sure this boat is not the lightest but not so bad for a poly boat (Eddyline Sikka LT 14.6 ft is 49lb) so is only few lb's different!. This 140DT track very good even without using the rudder, IMO paddles weight is very important as well. You will feel the different after long hours! I also upgrade to a full carbon paddle, to me it makes a big different. My friends in my group start getting touring kayaks as upgrade at the same time and date as I did. We have Eddyline Skita ST, LT, Fathom LV and a Delta 14, mine is the cheapest LOL. we all hit the water that day with all these new boats. To be honest, don't let the brand fool you! this Sprint 140DT did every thing it did as these expensive boats. I try them all, the Fathom LV and the ST is the most fastest, no doubt about it! However, the Eddyline Sikta LT and Delta 14 is about the same as Sprint 140DT. It all comes down to materials and brand name. Pelican make low-end boats for beginners and mainstream customers for big box stores, it doesn't mean they can't made good boats :-) other expensive brands made boats for fans! This boat is true bang for the buck deal however if lime green color is not your color, you have to look for other models, because this is the only color!
