This is a great and…

This is a great and inexpensive way to start. Someone once told me, if you try SUP boarding you will either love it or hate it. I have tried (unsuccessfully) surfing while I lived on the east coast. But then I tried SUP boarding on a nice lake and found it relaxing. This board is not for surfing and it is not for choppy water, but for a nice morning on a lake, or afternoon on a river. This board is probably the least expensive board out there, so you won't waste your dollar if you end up not being involved.

Pros
1. Inexpensive....
2. Light and easy to carry
3. Don't have to worry about dings as much as a hard board

Cons
1. Not much or a rocker...you are limited on where you can use this board -calm water yes, surf-not a chance.
2. Once you get the hang of SUP, you'll want a better board
Usage
I use this for paddling around local lakes and steams. I have tried this on Lake Michigan when it wasn't choppy. SUP is a good way to learn balance and get into shape while having fun in the sun.

Bought one three or four years ago overall it's a very nice board to paddle. If you can get one for $699 with the case and paddle it's a pretty decent deal. There are many other entry level boards now and lots of competition so if it's not on sale you can probably do better. Still they are not all the same. The Jimmy Styks beaver, doesn't handle or glide nearly as well as the Scout.

Pros
Nice Glide
Good looking
Good price for the board and case

Cons
A bit heavy
A little delicate
Single fin
Usage
Exercise. Lakes Bays and Rivers.

I've owned this board for a few years now. It was a great board to learn on. Very stable and dependable. Its best used for lake/river cruising or small waves on the surf. Consistantly the best board i've ridden.

Pros
Good starter board. Buoyant enough to hull an average sized man (180lbs) and a dog(mines 50 pounds) safely without feeling unstable. Perfect way to explore to water lands.

Cons
Nothing.
Usage
Lake travel

11'4" by 32 hybrid board floats 260 , package combo from west marine, good value for entry level.includes board bag.

Pros
Nice glass work , 3/4 pad that's comfortable, decent paddle, bungee attachments, deck plugs.

Cons
Hybrid blend bought out the worst of each, very small sweet spot , not enough volume in the tail.
A slug to get moving , and hates chop. Doesn't seem to float as high a weight as rated.
Great downwind , but would not buy again.
Usage
Exercise, cruisin , little surf
