One of my favorite things to do with my kayak is to go fishing at night. Summer nights are perfect, cooler temps., no sunburn, and the fishing is usually better at night; but there are risks. I got a Scotty 360* visible safety light that mounts in most rod holders and has a boom arm so I can adjust the angle of the light, so it's above and behind me. This allows me to get it up, so it can be seen, and away from my casting swing.
Overall, I am perfectly satisfied with it. The small flashlight sized safety light fits easily into the extension arm and the battery lasts for hours. I really like the adjustable angle of the arm and that it slides snugly into my rear flush-mount rod holders. If it stuck straight up, I would hit it when I cast, but I have had no such trouble when using the adjustable boom. There is also a white reflective finish on the arm to increase visibility, definitely a good thing when fishing lakes where bass boats are buzzin' around at night.
