I, like many other new to the sport of Kayaking, have gone through a lot of Kayaks to get the "one". I started with a 10' sit on top, went to a 10' sit in, to a 12' sit on top to my newest 14' 2014 (new just bought it last week) Perception Tribute. Now all of the Kayaks have give me hours of pleasure, but the Tribute, is special, it fits. I am 5'8" and 170 lbs with a 30" inseam. The seat in the boat has more adjustments then my BMW M3, and is almost as comfortable (the bmw has A/C).

The boat being 23.7" wide moves very well through the water yet does not feel loose. The Cockpit is tight and secure. The Tribute handles well in heavy swells but should be used with a spray skirt in those type of conditions. The boat has very good lines and is like a sports car on the water.

The only problems I have found are, the front hatch allows a small amount of water to pass (small amount, drops not cups) into the front compartment and the gel-coat is a bit thin.

It is a shame Perception no longer makes the 14', but if you have small feet (I am a size 8 a 10 may have some problems) don't intend to carry the contents of your refrigerator with you on your overnighter and you are fortunate enough to find one left in stock, buy it, you will not be disappointed.

I'm 5'2" and 117 lbs. and I wanted a boat that would be easy to lift, be comfortable and be sleek and swift when paddling. I didn't want to spend a lot of money. The Tribute 14 is a great choice! It tracks well, is extremely stable, and is fairly fast. It's got 2 hatches to hold plenty of gear and deck bungee to keep essentials close at hand. It's not a full-on sea kayak but it's a lot more sporty that your average plastic kayak. It's just perfect to go out on calm days to get a workout!

Excellent Kayak! Stable fast! I kayaked in 2 foot swells in the Indian River lagoon and I was still very stable, very fast, easy to maneuver! I would buy this one in a heart beat! I am 100 lbs & 5 feet. Found it very comfy and also easy to pul up on an island shore!
