I have the frosted version…

Submitted by: WaterBird on 5/6/2016
I have the frosted version and prefer it because the clear version is pretty hard on the eyes. The first lantern I bought was defective and within a couple of months it would only hold a charge for a few minutes. MPowered replaced it for free without a hassle but as the other reviewer said, it was very difficult to find the company's contact information as it is not given at the website. Replies were sporadic but in the end they were quite pleasant about the replacement. I've had no problems with the new lantern; it holds its charge for hours and is still lit in the morning.

This lantern lights up a whole room. You can read by it, but it is best placed between you and a book because of its brightnesss. It lights up an area about 12 feet wide at a campsite. I advise against pushing the valve down into the lantern as it can crack the plastic as I did, or else do it carefully.

Now available at Walmart for $15. I think it works much better than any $30 battery-powered backpacking lantern. It gives off a lot more light over a wider area and is easier on the eyes than your typical LED lantern.

My daughter and I were at…

My daughter and I were at Summit Hut before a trip and saw the Luci Light. Being gear junkies, we bought one to test and we loved it! The thing is basically a blow-up bag with a bunch of solar powered LEDs with three functions, low, high, flashing.

We blew it up at the campsite and chose to test it by leaving it on all night and in the morning, it was still glowing. This from whatever charge it had built up in the store. We've left it in the rain, stored in a box, everything.

The ONLY reason we gave it an 8 is because:
1) pulling the plug to release pressure during a hot day or to store is a miserable pain.
2) as far as we can tell, it comes in white or frosted color-change. We want a clear red Luci to keep the bugs down.
3) their website is horribly unworkable as to queries.
Still, I'll happily purchase more of these.
