This is a fun boat, if you're good enough for it. The wide planing hull makes it very loose on a wave. It has a generous amount of bow rocker, making it difficult to purl. It is easy to get the ends under, and it has enough volume to get aerial easily. It is roomy and comfortable, and the outfitting is adequate, although any used boat you'll still find will probably need some repairs.
The downside: it's boxy shape makes it difficult to roll. It's not bad if your roll is well grooved, but if your technique is lacking in any way, this boat will point that out. It is also quite slow.
This boat is easily outperformed by the modern generation of playboats. The slicy boats that didn't have room for your feet slowly gave way to the spud boat, and this was an early iteration of that concept. It can be a lot of fun.
