Klepper is well known for…

Klepper is well known for classic wooden frames. The Alu-Lite (respectively Sprint) does not have one. The frame is made of aluminum - like the Feathercraft kayaks. But the Alu-Lite differs from the usual Klepper kayaks nor in other things.

Despite its 4 m (13' 123") length, it is the fastest kayak from Klepper. Unbelievable, but it is nearly as fast as the Kahuna by Feathercraft. An average speed of 7 km/h (4,3 mph) over a few hours - effortless. The Alu-Lite has no rudder and also needs none, as long as the weather conditions are calm. When waves diagonally from behind, the skeg by Feathercraft is very helpful to keep the Alu-Lite better on course.

Another advantage is that the Alu-Lite is very quickly and easily assemble - in about 15 min. The Alu-Lite weighs 18 kg (39 Ibs), and fits in a backpack.

Disadvantage: Because the Alu-Lite is built with marked keel, when getting in it is shaky (such as the Feathercraft Whisper). And for the sea, it is not suitable. But for all other conditions, I do not want to give it away.
