The Hunter is a comfy sea kayak from a Hungarian factory. The company is well known for it's racing kayaks, so it's sea kayaks are very light, my carbon version weighs 17 kg. To me the boat's shape resembles the Romany a bit, except its rear deck is higher. This causes two things: huge storing capacity and an obstacle to layback rolls. Fortunately the C to C and front deck rolls are very easy with the boat, it simply snaps out of the water.
It's tracking exceptional without using skeg, as the matter of fact this is the most course-keeping boat I have ever paddled, including big manufacturer's. The primary stability (although it is only 55 cm wide) is huge, you have the "I could even sit on it's edge" feeling. The secondary stability is also great to a certain extent (apprx. one inch below the cockpit rim), than it capsizes immediately. The great stability naturally have it's price, that you pay in speed, the boat's speed is moderate, on flat water in calm conditions I can maintain 7-8 km average speed. The finish and the overall quality reaches the level of big name's, the hatches and the accessories are finish made Kayaksport, almost all the kayak manufacturers use it today.
The maneuverability is quite good, given that it is a soft chine boat, you have to put it on edge and initiate with a sweep stroke to turn. As I mentioned, due to it's lightness the boat is very easy to carry, and also easily accelerates to the touring speed. It has no dayhatch nor glovebox, I miss it sometimes.
All in all, it's a great boat especially for it's price which here in Hungary is one-third of a great manufacturers prices.
