This is an inexpensive, but good aluminum paddle for recreational use. We have the 235 cm version, which is a nice catch-all length – use them tall men and short women, for 10 to 14 foot solo hardshells, 14 to 15 foot tandems, and also for 12 to 13 foot inflatables. My wife appreciates the light weight (30 ounces). It is actually lighter than my Bending Branches and Oak Orchard fiberglass paddles that cost three times as much. And for as light as it is, it seems rather sturdy. In fact, I tried about five different versions of my paddles on the same kayak with all-out paddling, and this paddle actually gave me a little better speed and felt solid even during aggressive paddling. Also note that this may be my driest paddle, as the smooth transition from the blade edges down toward the shaft appears to let the water stay attached to the paddle until it reaches the drip ring, and is there stopped and can drip outside the boat.
By giving it a 9 rating, I am not saying it's "above" the other paddles – maybe I should give it just an 8 – but if we factor in the very economical price, it may deserve a 10 – so I am giving it a 9. I cannot yet speak for the long-term durability, but have had no issues the after the first couple seasons.
