Coupe XP Description

Versatility is the name of the game these days when it comes to getting your money's worth and the Coupe offers it up in large doses. This one-of-a-kind hybrid design is fun, stable, easy to paddle and is as comfortable on rivers and lakes as it is riding your favorite ocean break. The Coupe is the choice when looking for one sit on top that can and will do it all. The Coupe's hull is whitewater ready with soft edges for easy control and the bow is upswept allowing the Coupe to ride up and over river features as well as staying high and dry when taken in the surf zone. On quiet waters such as lakes and bays the Coupe transforms to a touring sit-on-top with a flick of the lever deploying its spring loaded skeg; a feature not found on any other sit-on-top kayak. With the Deluxe Wedge seat and the Tag Along Wheel now standard on every boat plus the additional available accessories like the padded Thigh Straps, the Coupe offers up unparalleled comfort and control.

Coupe 2018 - Water in the seat

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 9/19/2017

We love the overall stability and action of the kayak, however, we didn't realize water would get into the seat cushion area. We went camping at a mountain lake this past weekend and we had a drastic change in the weather to very cool. My girlfriend was only able to be in it for a short period because of the standing water in the seat and she couldn't handle how cold it made her. The water was calm so no water was splashing over the sides. Any suggestions as we get more in to the cooler weather other than her wearing waders? Thanks, Brett Blofsky 541-205-2293

Bought 4 and would buy 4 more!

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 10/12/2016

Each one of our four family members got their own Coupe XP and we love taking them on the lake. They are fast, track with no issues, are very stable and comfortable. Flip it over on the lake and use it as a dock to jump off and swim around (: We have used them on the lower part of the Ocoee with some class 1 and feel very comfortable. Looking to push class 2 next summer.

10 feet of heaven! Kayak of my dreams!

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 7/3/2016

If you want a sit on top type kayak that really performs this is it! I am a wildlife photographer and my solo kayak of choice is the Coupe by Liquid Logic. I can tackle moderate rapids or heavy ocean swell and feel real comfortable. The retractable keel skeg is awesome although I love the fluid motion I feel when it's up. I understand why the company is called Liquid Logic!

It's a blast

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 7/2/2016

This boat is a lot of fun on fast water, highly maneuverable, responds to small inputs, and is a lot of fun to paddle. I took it down the North Prong of the Medina river, near Medina Texas. The river was running in the upper three hundred cfs range , class one and low class two rapids. The tricky part was going through the wooded parts of the river, where the trees are in the river. Avoiding the trees in class one rapids and going down narrow chutes was a blast in this boat. The drop down skeg is very useful on the slower water. This is my sixth kayak, I currently have three. I believe that my last two paddling trips were much better because I had this boat. On really flat water it is slow, tolerable, but slow.

Good boat

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 7/1/2016

I bought the liquid logic coupe back in October. We have been through a lot together! I have paddled class I-IIIs and one IV. I have paddled nearly every week, and definitely every month, up till now.I have put this kayak to the test. I am 5 foot 3 inches and about 115 pounds. Things I like: comfy seat- long trips, no prob drop down skeg- flat water, no worries it is the lightest SOT crossover in its class (53 lbs) it can handle more than you think (IIIs+) it stays upright most of the time when it does not stay upright, it is easy to get back in Cons: Though it is self bailing, there are no drain holes under the seat. This means you will be sitting in the water of whatever river you are on for as long as you are on it. French Broad e coli for 5 hours ladies? This is a major flaw in my opinion. Blub blub blub blub- for some strange reason, the drain holes in the back get into percolation rhythm that makes an annoying constant sound, particularly when you are trying to get through a flat water stretch, and actual water pops up providing a visual for your paddling companions, and likely contributes to the above seat issue. The wheel was a major selling point because it was important for me to be able to handle my own boat. Turns out it is a handicap on white water. It hits everything. Had to go. No side hand holds. Without the wheel, carrying it solo means you have to grab onto anything you can, but nothing there actually gives you the grip you need. My pride is wounded. Except for the awkward loading I do at home, I need help with my boat :( I'm not that kind of gal really. I hope this kayak get a revamp. I would buy it. The cons are all design flaws in my opinion. I do not know of a boat that has all the qualities I want, which is a well designed crossover boat that fits my size. We are just not there just yet. Until then, I will keep my coupe, because I definitely can't keep off the river.

Coupe Review

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 6/13/2016

I love my new Liquidlogic Kayak. Ive been having trouble staying out of it long enough to write my review.
The Coupe is perfect for my kayaking needs. I mostly paddle on the lake but when I do want to take it to one of our local rivers here in Tennessee, its skeg up and away we go!
Thank you liquidlogic and happy paddling to All !!

Sweet Boat!

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 5/6/2016

Haven't had a chance to use it yet but is just as described. I'm 6 ' 3" and fit very comfortably, with ample leg room to the foot stops. Seat is like an armchair...very comfy...where's the pocket for my remote? lol. Thigh straps were super easy to install. I will say that hefting it up onto my truck's roof rack took some effort. Not so much due to the weight (it's the same 50 lbs as my flatwater boat), but because it doesn't have much to grab onto other than the (smooth) outer surface of the boat (vs the sit-inside flatwater boat, which has the cockpit edge to grab.). I think I just need to figure out the best technique using the recessed grab handle. My only wish is that the wheel was more easily removable for running the river (to avoid banging it and the bracket to which it's attached around) and easily re-installed when done. While it is screwed in quite securely, the rear "loop" or "handle" on the boat prevents easy access to the mounting crews without an "L" shaped screwdriver shaft. Can't wait to run it next month!

Great Kayak!

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 4/4/2016

This is my first kayak, and I researched for a long time before making the purchase. If you want a kayak that can do just about everything then this is the one. The drop down keg really helps with tracking if you are paddling on open water. With the keg up it turns sharply and easily. If I could think of any changes I would say the skipper plugs closest to the seat could be re-designed as they allow water to get under the seat and it does not drain out. For me, this is a small complaint and I still do not think there is a better boat out there that has all of the features of the LL Coupe.

Just gave the kayak to my wife for Christmas (yesterday). She was very happy to get it and it looks great. Will be a while before we get it in the water.

Amazing Whitewater boat!

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 11/25/2015

i love this boat (coupe). It's my second one - also have a deuce coup for paddles my daughter does not want to do alone. With the skeg up its a very stable and maneuverable whitewater boat, skeg down and it's great for open water. Comfortable chair for long days on the water and the wheel makes it easy to port. Quite simply put its just perfect - ease of use makes it great to put my beginner friends into. Thank you Liquid Logic

Awesome. Does everything really well without a lot of fuss. Recommend the factory pick-up to meet some of the good people behind these cool boats.

Love the boat will be perfect for friends who are new to the sport. Not thrilled with the shipping the boat has a three inch gouge on the side that was hard to see with the packaging. no real damage but cosmetic.

My wife and I both bought coupes from a local outfitter. I feel we could not have made a better choice for an entry into whitewater kayaking and touring. I hope to get years of fun from these and plan to buy two more boats from LL in the months to come.

Little Deuce Coupe

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 4/29/2015

I purchased this boat as a way for my girlfriend and I to get out on the water. She loves it! We've paddled flatwater and up to class II. This is her first boat and she has taken to it very quickly. The boat is excellently designed and the tag-along wheel allows her to load and unload the boat by herself. The boat is so comfortable that I'm looking to get one for me. I'm looking forward to a full summer of paddling and camping on the river. Thank you Liquidlogic team!!

Empress

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 4/3/2015

I love my coupe. !! Everyone in our floating club is envious of my wheel. Lol. I float it all year round. I put sponges in the scupper holes close to the seat to keep me dry on rough water. This boat was the lightest weigh sit on top I could find. I can manage loading and unloading myself, no problems... Well worth the money... Kingston, OH

Overall a great boat, but could be improved upon

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 1/28/2015

I have had my Coupe for 2 years, and mostly I LOVE it. The seat is ultra comfortable, it's stable, and bombproof. The only gripes I have are: The water drains into the cup holder more than out of the scupper holes. And the paddle holder isn't big enough for a paddle shaft and it pops out more often than not. Everything else is great. Especially love the wheel on the back and also the handy hatch right in front. Thigh straps are a must for whitewater, and very comfortable.

Terrific! Coupe

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 12/4/2014

Hi, I've had my Coupe on the Great Lakes for three years now and this is my 3rd kayak, 2nd sit on top. It does do everything. I wanted this boat because the Great Lakes aren't always kind to tiny craft like this. Waves and chop can be wonderful fun if you have a boat that can handle it and this one does. It surfs great. Turns on a dime. It's incredibly stable. And, it does the flat calm water well too. With that skeg down it tracks pretty straight even when paddling hard which is impressive for only a 10 ft. boat. It's not particularly fast on the straight a way in calm water, which is understandable and you have to accept a wet seat. With the "chair" addition, not as much. I do use plugs which help.

Coupe

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 12/4/2014

Have had my Coupe a couple years now.... love it, except for the fact that water collects in the seat, and you're always sitting
in it (water.) Feels ok in the summer, but cooler weather/water....not so.
