The fiberglass shaft Bass Pro Ascend Tournament Kayak Paddle is an affordable light weight upgrade to any aluminum shaft entry level paddles. They feature a fiberglass-reinforced nylon blades and light fiber glass shaft and adjustable feather angle. It also has a a notch to assist with lure recovery.
I found this paddle to be a big improvement over my old aluminum shaft paddles. The notch for line for lure recovery has come in handy but can catch vegetation if going through Lilly pads or similar. This can be over come with a small piece of Gorilla tape to cover it up if needed. this paddle has proven to be durable.
Overall can't be beat for $79.
Ascend Tournament Kayak Paddle are the most bang for the buck you can find in a kayak paddle. They have fiberglass shafts and weigh less than cheaper aluminum shaft paddles. The actual paddle is very durable and has been holding up well.
The is a notch to aid in lure recovery. If you fish a lot of matt this can be a detriment. Small piece of duct tape would fix that. The shafts even have a fish ruler marked on the shaft.
The Ascend Tournament Kayak Paddle is a good value. You can spend more money and have a paddle that isn't any better. I replaced old aluminum shaft paddles with these and found them to be big improvement. They have a notch for lure retrieval. Some people like this feature some don't. They have come in handy and other times they can snag in weeds. I suppose if they bothered you a small piece of duct tape would solve the problem.
