Trip Overview

About 108 miles. Weather was unusual for the area with a high pressure dome creating record highs this week with temps reaching 100+ degrees. With the extreme heat came strong upstream winds that started blowing as early as 9 am. Beside the heat rattlesnakes were our biggest hazard. We saw several over the week. No cell phone coverage in the river valley. Tom the ferry shuttle operator for McClelland-Stafford ferry was an incredible host the night we camped there. Thank you Tom! (Wi-Fi calling possible) Water levels were sufficient for floating but were dropping by the day. The sights were incredible and would love to float it again. MRO was very patient and flexible for our shuttle service needs but be warned they do not take the direct route from CB to JK but for other reasons add 2 hours to the shuttle (1way). No whitewater/ rapids on this trip.
