Trip Overview

This two and a half day trip was pleasant and relaxing. I camped on a river island the first night, and at the state park the second night. There are so many blue herons, and also green heron, bald eagles, osprey, hawks, deer, turkey, snakes, turtles, and frogs. I opted for a half day on the second day to do some hiking at Tippecanoe River State Park. While it is mostly an easy paddle, there are LOTS of downed trees and a few sections with rocks in the river, which call for some navigating. There is a dangerous strainer section upstream of TRSP.

Safety Notes

Be very careful the two miles upstream of Tippecanoe River State Park, or try to find a portage around the island of downed trees.

Gear Notes

Coleman 13ft Tandem Canoe Cooler, hard box, tent, chair, clothes, sleeping pad. Total gear 135 lbs.

Conditions

Low water

Portage Notes

Possibly two portages when the water is higher.
