Trip Overview

We often kayak on the River Coquet as it is so beautiful and relaxing.

Park at the Riverside, drive through Warkworth village and turn left at village shops. Pass St Lawrence's Church. Plenty of free parking and there are picnic benches.

We paddle up river mostly as its peaceful and relaxing.

Thrre is a small weir which will be noticeable at lower tide. Kayaker will need to get out and step over/ paddle boarders will need to get off and too. Once over the weir the water is calm, and the water is clear and silky.

You will pass the majestic Warkworth Castle on your left. Further round you will pass The Warkworth Hermitage ( also known as The Chapel of the Holy Trinity). Rumours that the stone Chapel were carved in the year 1332-1349. This is only accessible by a ferry which is operated from the south side of the river. ( a man with a rowing boat!). This has not been operational recently due to the pandemic.

Furthe uup river it is peaceful and you may be lucky enough to see kingfishers, coots, ducks, wagtails etc. We have seen a fox and deer during the day. I'm hopeful of seeing an otter sometime.
