Rio Grande River from Cochiti Lake, New Mexico

Trip Overview

Launched from the boat ramp at Cochiti Lake campground and paddled across the lake and up the Rio Grande River to the junction with Medio Dia Canyon. Beautiful day with low winds. A million songbirds singing in the willows along the riverbank. Beautiful cliffs, fairly strong current to paddle against upstream. Interesting line in the water at the river mouth demarcating it from the lake.
