Trip Overview

The Powell River is a beautiful class 1 float. I'm posting this because I couldn't find much info on it. Here is a link to access sites- https://www.powellriverblueway... The access at Hwy25/32 was closed when we were there, but from there to Gap creek would be a good 11 mile day trip. The river becomes flat-water, Norris lake about a mile before Gap Creek so dont set up your takeout beyond unless you like flatwater. Plus the next takeout, Lonesome Valley, is bad for lots of reasons. We put in at the Nature preserve. Very good spot. Inner tube trips start there and go for 3 miles, so go early or weekday to avoid. Our trip was 18miles, the last two will be avoided next time. We camped on a gravel bar about halfway. The gauge read 2.5. We didnt scrape but that's close to the minimum. But if it was much higher it might cover camping spots. 2.2 to 3.5 is a good range if camping. Higher if just a long day. The last 12 miles we saw no people and no houses, and heard no highways.
