Petrie Island to Cardinal Creek

Trip Overview
Since the river was a bit windy and choppy today we headed east along the shore, and crossed under Hwy 174. Earlier in the season, water levels were high enough that access to the creek was not possible. Today, in a kayak there was enough head room. The creek was very picturesque, if a bit muddy and narrow, and the water was very still. We went about a 1/2 km upstream, before turning around, though from the map, we could have paddled on for a while longer.Safety Notes
This area is isolated, and i would have felt a bit creeped out by myself. Access to the mouth of the creek is seasonal based on water levels. Exercise caution going through the culvert. The only wildlife noted was likely a beaver (we heard a loud splash).Gear Notes
