Kayaked the North Siuslaw with wife and the two friends today. Put in at Bender’s Landing and paddled upstream an hour on a rising tide. Easy and scenic with the river about fifty feet wide, but when we turned around the breeze got windy and the tide was still rising and it was a bit of a slog back. Definitely plan your farthest point as a slack tide and ride the ebb tide back. These are tidal waters and the current was about 1.5 mph upstream. We could have gone further upstream with more time as we never encounter any obstacles.
