Myakka River in Florida

Trip Overview

We put in on the Myakka River in the Myakka State Park, and paddled downstream for about an hour. There were many alligators, turtles, and birds around the edges of the river. Being from New England, the alligators were a little disconcerting at first, however once you passed a few and realized that they were going into the water to hide, not to get you, it became more enjoyable. This is a beautiful part of Florida that, I bet, not many tourists take the time to see! We booked this tour through Kayak Treks in Sarasota, FL. 800-656-3891.
