Loreto to La Paz Journey

Trip Overview

It’s the sense of going somewhere. It’s the spiny ridge of the Giganta mountains that keep civilization at bay. It’s the richness of the sea, and the romance of islands on the horizon. The coastline between Loreto and La Paz has long been a paddling classic because of its dramatic scenery and remoteness.

This trip launches south of Loreto and takes out 10 days later at a fish camp north of La Paz on a genuine Baja dirt road. In between is freedom. Life as a band of sea gypsies. This is a self-supported trip for skilled kayakers, including technical landings on spectacular beaches that are inaccessible to groups with motorboats. You'll play in the wind and along rocky coastlines. Sails are available to rent for the trip, complete with instruction.

Sea Kayak Baja Mexico offers optional individualized skill development along the way. All guides are certified as UKCC/British Canoeing coaches and Sea Leaders.

There is a more challenging version of this trip, 12 or 14 days including Isla San Jose.

My Personal Favorite

Submitted by: bac on 10/12/2017

The SKBM Loreto to La Paz Builder is my personal favorite.  I have done this trip 3 times. Twice as the 10 day and once as the 12 day that includes the Isla San Jose. To start with the journey is beautiful...the Coastline is stunning. SKBM has your safety and enjoyment as top priority. NDK kayaks, Kokatat pfds, and Werner paddles are provided. The food is very good with fresh vegetables throughout the trip.  If the guides get lucky you will even enjoy a "catch of the day" meal or two.  The guides are all well trained and knowledgeable.  They will assist you in learning new skills and improving on what you already have.  SKBM has excellent communications and responds quickly to questions about trip planning and accommodation needs. I have done several other trips with SKBM and look forward to more adventures with them.

Fantastic Trip!

Did this trip last year. Awesome time. The Sea Kayak Baja Mexico crew were great! Well planned, well executed and with excellent gear! Our two guides, Ramon ad Edgar are real professionals, they were fun, knowledgable and entertaining. I felt safe and confident the whole trip. The daily meals were wonderful and healthy. The group I was with was small so we were able to cover a lot of distance each day. The weather threw up just enough to make each day a challenge. I look very much forward to doing this trip again. I've done 4 trips with SKBM now, each one has been fantastic. Hoping very much to do at least 4 more....
