Little Manistee River in Michigan

Trip Overview

Cool, sunny fall day, great colors. We did the 9 Mile Bridge to Six Mile Bridge segment in yaks, enjoyed the steelhead in the water and 6 or 7 eagles in the sky.

There were 3 easy portages, went over 3 or 4 logs that would have been annoying if the river was down about 4". There was plenty of other wood to move around or through, and I was glad the canoe was home.

A fun trip, but not for a novice. This stretch is all private property, so eat your lunch before or after. Upstream of this stretch is fun as well.
