Leaf River from SC 80 to SR 28 (Taylorsville)

A self-supported trip created by paddler2591374

Trip Overview

Nice stretch, high banks, good current (river gauge at 6), seven shoals - #3 is rocky and invisible as you approach because of the dropoff, you can easily get stuck on a rock here more than once.

The put in at SC 80 (SE corner) isn't bad, but taking out at SR 28 at the SW corner, the former boat ramp, involves unpleasant dragging over humps under the bridge and a circuitous route out - next time I'd land at the NE corner and go over the riprap on a straighter route to the highway.

3 1/2 hour trip on the river, 45 min. self-shuttle on bicycle
