Ingram Pond - A trip for beginners

Trip Overview

A great access launch site right off of a big road. The launching site has ample free parking and a concrete launch area. We launched two kayaks with myself and my wife. She did quite well as she does not usually kayak. The lake at first looks quite small, but does extend around a few nooks and turns and eventually enters into a canal creek-like area. Lots of underground trees and branches that you can hit and some can high center you. My wife got stuck once, a simple push and she was out. Lots of lilies and submerged plants, but was quite deep in most places (longer than my paddle). Creek area twisted around and had Cyprus trees and ample shaded areas. Water became more murky the farther you travel down the narrow creek suggesting is does not lead anywhere. We kyaked out about 1 mile and in total logged 2.2 miles. We ate in shade hooked to a tree while in kayaks in creek-like area. A nice relaxing day trip.

Safety Notes

None. Minimal current fresh water non-tidal.

Conditions

Little breeze in 80's.

Portage Notes
