Put in at Proud Lake North Boat Launch Ramp: https://goo.gl/maps/VfVBksxonY...

Gauge height at Hamburg was 3.63 ft: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/mi/n...
Trip time: 5h 1m
Paddling distance (logged on Strava): 10.70 miles
We dropped a shuttle car at Kensington Metropark Shore Fishing Parking and then launched our group from Proud Lake North Boat Launch Ramp. After gentle current through the first section we had a short portage over Moss Lake Dam (portage right of dam). Immediately downstream of the dam it was pretty shallow, but easy paddling. Water got deeper and slower as we approached Hubbell Pond. Stopped in Central Park in Milford for a snack and to climb the hill to the bathrooms. From here on to Milford Dam the impoundment was densely choked with pondweed. The portage over Milford Dam had nice kayak slides ascending and descending. After the dam it was shallow again for a while and easy to get beached on sandbars in places if you didn't watch out, but easy paddling overall. Water slowed again as we approached Kent Lake - you can take out at West Dawson Rd to avoid the flatwater paddling. We continued on through thick pondweed to the Kensington Metropark Shore Fishing Parking.
This was our first segment toward competing the Huron 104: https://huronriverwatertrail.o...
Gear Notes
Mix of small sit-inside and sit-on-top kayaks, and one rugged inflatable kayak
Conditions
Relatively low water; gauge height at Hamburg was 3.63 ft: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/mi/n...
Low water and high temps contributed to lots of pondweed growth in the impoundments
Portage Notes
Portage right at Moss Lake Dam
Portage right at Milford Dam (kayak slides on ascent and descent)
