Cane creek State Park lake

A self-supported trip created by Debbieyaks

Trip Overview

Paddled the lake to the west. I was hoping to get all the way to the end but it was clogged with giant Lilly pads and grass for hundreds of yards. Fishermen said early spring they are died down and you can make it to end of lake. So most of the paddle was through the tree snags. It was beautiful. It was Labor Day so several fishing boats but since so many submerged logs, no one going fast. I was hoping to paddle Bayou Bartholomew just on the other side of the lake and I went to check out the access point. You have to drive 6 miles on a gravel road and a rock got caught in my trucks breaks so after spending the day getting it out, I decided not driving that road again.

Safety Notes

Watch out for submerged stumps so go slow

Conditions

Sunny with slight breeze
