Trip Overview

The National Park System has a great facility at Assateague National Seashore. You can camp, kayak(ocean or bay), surf fish, bike, hike, all while beautiful wild ponies watch over you. What a great place.

We did three day trips from the put-ins provided by the Park Service. From our kayaks we saw wild ponies, bald eagles, osprey, bufflehead, scouters, red tail hawks, loons, merganzers, and many other birds to numerous to list.

Just a note of caution: be aware the winds can build quickly along the ocean...even the bay can whip up in short order.

This is truly a family outing spot and a beautiful place to paddle.
