Description

Owned by Black Swamp Conservancy and cooperatively managed by Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge and the US Fish & Wildlife Service, the preserve is located on East Muggy Road in Catawba Island Township. The property covers approximately 21 acres of land and 18 acres of submerged land along West Harbor.


Two kayak access sites are available at Nehls Memorial Nature Preserve including a rustic site and immediately adjacent an accessible EZ Launch dock which connects the site to the Lake Erie Islands Water Trails. A picnic pavilion and hiking trails are here as well.
