I've had a 16' Tarpon for a little over 8 years now. I replaced the original boat with another 16 when the seat was upgraded. Yes the boat is a little tipsy but it's due the 28" width as well as the initial stability. The secondary stability, the one in use when sitting sideways with your legs over the side is what matters to me as that's how I usually sit while drift fishing. The amount of gear you can store under the deck is amazing, just keeps gobbling up stuff. Then there's the glide you get from casual paddle strokes, the boat is so easy to keep going fast. You will pull away from others not in a Tarpon. Now the short & wide boats are all the rage due to their stability. Sure I get it and I have an 11.5 Feel Free 2.V that is a great boat, but comparing the glide against my Tarpon it's a barge.
