I've had the black version since 2005. I took out the seat and installed an old LL Bean canvas one with a backrest and lowered it to almost touching the bottom of the boat. The lower center of gravity and backrest makes it feel like a comfortable kayak but with the added benefit of being able to put your legs and wherever you want, while retaining all the advantages of a canoe. Most of the time I use a double-blade kayak paddle and it's very quick, and when exploring around lake edges, inlets and islands, I use just one of the kayak blades, or I'll switch to a feather light canoe paddle. Best of both worlds!
